Mayo Clinic cardiovascular specialists will soon be providing care for adult patients at FamilyHealth Medical Clinic in Lakeville.
Gregory W. Barsness, MD; Rajiv Gulati, MD, PhD; and Verghese Mathew, MD, will provide outreach services on a rotating basis at the clinic every other Tuesday beginning July 3. Each has a special interest in vascular diseases — especially peripheral arterial disease — in addition to general cardiac problems.
The Mayo Clinic physicians will work closely with community physicians to provide care for local patients. If needed, Mayo Clinic provides additional cardiovascular and diagnostic testing in Rochester.
Kathleen Meier, Division Administrator for Clinic Services for Northfield Hospital & Clinics, said the expansion of Mayo Clinic cardiology services in Lakeville significantly broadens the local access to these services.
“The opening of this practice will reduce wait times and offer local residents more flexibility for scheduling tests if necessary,” Meier said. “Any time we can provide more specialty care locally, patients and their families benefit.”
Mayo Clinic has been providing cardiovascular services in Northfield since 2008. In 2010, a telemedicine feature was added to increase capacity.
