Northfield Hospital & Clinics is opening a primary care medical clinic in Elko New Market August 6.
Called FamilyHealth Medical Clinic, it will be located at 321 Main Street and staffed by Mary Ann Scheid, M.D., and Jay Charles, P.A., They will provide Family Medicine services five days a week to patients of all ages. Office hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Fridays.
Three preview events will be held next week: Tuesday, July 31, and Thursday, Aug. 2, 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday, Aug. 4, 9 a.m. to noon. People will have an opportunity to see the new facility and meet the staff.
FamilyHealth Medical Clinic is owned and operated by Northfield Hospital & Clinics. The Elko New Market clinic is one of five primary care clinics and three specialty clinics in its network. Besides FamilyHealth Medical Clinics in Northfield, Lakeville, Lonsdale and Farmington, Northfield Hospital & Clinics also owns and operates the Women’s Health Center in Northfield, Orthopaedic & Fracture Clinic in Northfield and Northfield Eye Physicians & Surgeons in Northfield.
FamilyHealth providers offer a full range of primary care services, including well-child checks, annual physicals, immunizations and flu shots, senior care, fracture care and DOT physicals for professional drivers. Through FamilyHealth, patients have easy access to additional specialty services – including pediatrics, internal medicine, OB/GYN, urology, ENT (ear, nose and throat), orthopedics, cardiology, high-risk pregnancy care and medical oncology – at other nearby clinics. Electronic medical records make it easy for patients to move between clinics, Northfield Hospital and other services of Northfield Hospital & Clinics. The clinic accepts Medicare and all major health insurance plans.
Dr. Scheid and Jay Charles, P.A., bring a wealth of experience to the new clinic. Dr. Scheid is a graduate of the University of Minnesota School of Medicine. She has provided Family Medicine services at FamilyHealth Medical Clinic in Northfield since it opened in 2007. Jay Charles, P.A., is a graduate of the University of Osteopathic Medicine and Health Sciences in Des Moines, Iowa. He has been practicing at FamilyHealth in Lakeville for the past several years. Services of both clinicians are provided through a professional services agreement with Mayo Clinic Health System.
