Northfield Hospital & Clinics names CEO finalist

Northfield Hospital & Clinics Board of Directors has named Steve Underdahl the finalist for the position of President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

The board took that action at its regular meeting Thursday evening, acting upon a recommendation from the search committee it appointed earlier this year.

Underdahl, currently Vice President of Operations for Mayo Clinic Health System, Albert Lea and Austin, will be invited back in early May for a second round of interviews. In her report to the board Thursday evening, Gina Franklin, board chair and a member of the search committee, said Underdahl’s work experience includes 15 years of progressive management responsibilities, including 13 years as a hospital administrator. His responsibilities have included management of both hospital and clinic operations. He has had experience with new construction and has a full understanding of both rural and metro healthcare markets.

Underdahl was one of five candidates interviewed by the search committee in April. Service of renewal set for April 16

A service of inspiration and renewal for caregivers, featuring music, prayer and music meditation, will be Tuesday, April 16, 7 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Northfield.

Called “Restore, Replenish, Renew,” the service is designed for anyone who is providing care or services to persons in need. This includes family caregivers, nurses, physicians, healthcare workers, therapists, clergy and volunteers.

The service will include a litany for healing, readings, hymn singing, anointing of hands, and a caregiver’s psalm. Daniel Dimick, a licensed psychologist, marriage and family therapist and an ordained minister, will provide a homily and meditation experience. John Ferguson will provide piano music and accompaniment. Marian McKone will share a breath prayer written by Thich Nhat Hanh, a Buddhist monk.

Following the service there will be refreshments and a time for fellowship.  Hand or back massage and healing touch will be offered free of charge by local practitioners.

“Restore, Replenish, Renew” was initiated in 2000 by a local network of parish nurses, who wanted to offer a worship service that would reinvigorate the spiritual side of those who provided prolonged care-giving.

Northfield Retirement Community, Three Links, Northfield Area Interfaith Association and Northfield Hospital & Clinics are sponsoring the service.
