Northfield Hospital & Clinics names CEO finalist

Northfield Hospital & Clinics Board of Directors has named Steve Underdahl the finalist for the position of President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

The board took that action at its regular meeting Thursday evening, acting upon a recommendation from the search committee it appointed earlier this year.

Underdahl, currently Vice President of Operations for Mayo Clinic Health System, Albert Lea and Austin, will be invited back in early May for a second round of interviews. He will meet with the full board, senior administrative staff, members of the medical staff and members of the hospital and clinics leadership team. The board will make a final decision following those interviews.

In her report to the board Thursday evening, Gina Franklin, board chair and a member of the search committee, said Underdahl’s work experience includes 15 years of progressive management responsibilities, including 13 years as a hospital administrator. His responsibilities have included management of both hospital and clinic operations. He has had experience with new construction and has a full understanding of both rural and metro healthcare markets.

Underdahl was one of five candidates interviewed by the search committee in April. The search committee is comprised of Franklin; board members Steve O’Neill, Randy Reister, MD, and Michelle Muench, MD; Tim Hogan, MD; Northfield Mayor Dana Graham, CC Linstroth; Robert Shepley, MD; Jeff Meland, MD, Chief Medical Officer for Northfield Hospital & Clinics; and Tim Gronseth, Chief Financial Officer for Northfield Hospital & Clinics.
