New Chief Operating Officer named at Northfield Hospital

Jerome EhnJerry Ehn has been named Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Northfield Hospital & Clinics. He will be responsible for developing the operational metrics, tools and processes necessary to help the organization meet the challenges of healthcare reform.

Most recently, Ehn has worked for Mayo Clinic Health System. He has served on the Austin and Albert Lea campuses and handled assignments for the broader Mayo organization. Ehn holds a masters’ degree in Organization Leadership and a nursing home administrator’s license. He brings with him an impressive balance of operational and strategic leadership experience.

He will begin his duties at Northfield Hospital & Clinics on Monday, Dec. 9.

Hospital recognized for patient safety

Northfield Hospital was recently recognized by the Minnesota Hospital Association (MHA) for superior performance on improving patient safety.

 The hospital received a “Partnership for Patients Excellence Award” from the MHA Hospital Engagement Network, a consortium of healthcare facilities dedicated to reducing preventable hospital acquired conditions and preventable hospital readmissions. To earn the award, a hospital needed to demonstrate progress on three or more patient safety initiatives. Read more »

Long Term Care Center earns high marks

Northfield Hospital’s Long Term Care Center is among the most highly ranked nursing homes in the state, according to the latest Nursing Home Report Card released earlier this year by the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH).

 The hospital’s Long Term Care Center received 32 stars out of a possible 35 based on seven quality measures, one of the three highest scores among the state’s 373 nursing homes. Only Little Sisters of the Poor of St. Paul scored higher with 33 stars. Lyngblomsten Care Center of  St. Paul also earned 32 out of 35 stars. Read more »

Northfield Hospital invests in advanced technology

Northfield Hospital is one of a handful of regional healthcare facilities to have the next generation in fluoroscope technology.

It recently purchased a Luminos Agile with CR radiography to meet the need for better images, growing volumes and a better patient experience. Read more »
