Mark Henke
President and CEO
Mark has overall responsibility for the operation and development of Northfield Hospital & Clinics. He joined the organization in 2010 after serving for four years as the chief executive officer for Sanford Hospital Luverne in Luverne, Minnesota. Prior to that he was chief operating officer for Winneshiek Medical Center and chief administrative officer for Decorah Clinic–Mayo Health System in Decorah, Iowa (2001-2006).
Between 1986 and 2006, Mark served in several administrative roles at Mayo Clinic, including Human Resources, Systems & Procedures, Education, and Regional Health System Administration. He is a 1981 graduate of St. Olaf College and received an MBA from Northern Illinois University in 1986.
Jeff Meland,M.D. Vice President and Chief Medical Officer
In his role as Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Meland serves as an executive resource to the hospital medical staff’s Medical Executive Committee and its subcommittees. He oversees the Quality Improvement and Clinical Informatics departments. In addition, Dr. Meland serves as Medical Director of the Emergency Department and continues to practice there.
Dr. Meland is a graduate of the University of North Dakota Medical School. He did his residency at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis. He practiced family medicine in Northfield for nine years before joining Northfield Hospital & Clinics in the Emergency Department. He is a past president of Northfield Hospital & Clinics Medical Staff and formerly the Medical Director for Emergency Medical Services at the hospital.
Timothy Gronseth
Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer
Tim oversees the financial operations of the hospital and affiliated clinics as well as the administrative director of Patient Financial Services, Health Information Services, Facility Services, Information Services Technology, Human Resources and payroll.
Tim holds a BA in Business Administration, Accounting, and Hospital Administration from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minn., and an MBA from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul.
Kathleen Meier
Clinic Services Administrator
Kathleen oversees our five primary care clinics in Northfield, Lonsdale, Lakeville, Farmington and Elko/New Market; our three specialty clinics: Women’s Health Clinic, Orthopaedic & Fracture Clinic and Northfield Eye Physicians & Surgeons; and the Center for Sports Medicine & Rehabilitation in Northfield and Lakeville.
She has worked in a number of clinical and administrative roles. Most recently she served as Ancillary Services Administrator for Northfield Hospital & Clinics. Prior to that she served at Owatonna Hospital. Kathleen is known for her collaborative management style.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Winona State University and a MBA from the University of St. Thomas.
Vicki Stevens
Ancillary Services Administrator
Prior to joining Northfield Hospital & Clinics, she served in a variety of administrative positions with the Fairview system over a 17-year period.
Vicki holds a Bachelors degree in Business Administration from the University of St. Thomas and a Master’s degree in Human Resources and Industrial Relations from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota.
Tammy Hayes
Nursing Division Administrator
Tammy is responsible for nursing services at Northfield Hospital, including the Medical/Surgical and Critical Care units, the First Touch Birth Center, and the Surgery Department, as well as Northfield Home Care and the Long Term Care Center.
She has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the College of St. Scholastica and a Masters of Science in Health Services Administration from Cardinal Stritch University.
Tammy has held a number of nursing leadership roles in neonatal and pediatric care and has provided leadership for a broad range of quality initiatives. Most recently, she worked as the clinical nurse manager of the neonatal intensive care unit at Saint Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri.
Laura Peterson
Staff Services Administrator
Laura is responsible for the operation of the Human Resources and Education departments, the Medical Staff Office, and also Risk Management and Compliance functions.
She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Washington University in St. Louis in 1981, a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Rush University in Chicago in 1983, and a Juris Doctor degree from Syracuse University in 1989.
Laura formerly practiced law in private practice and has worked in the health insurance industry. She has been at Northfield Hospital & Clinics since 2001.
