Measures of Care
We believe it’s important for patients and families to know about the quality of care in any organization before making a decision about where to go for treatment . . .
We monitor the quality of our care continuously and use this information to guide our quality improvement efforts. We set our standards of care according to those recommended by well respected institutions that have based their recommendations on scientific knowledge and research.
In order to make this information available to you, the consumer, we voluntarily participate in several state and national projects that are using advances in information technology to display organizational data on their websites.
Below are several websites which display information about the quality of our care and safety initiatives, with comparison data from other organizations which offer similar services and are of similar size to Northfield Hospital.
Hospital data
Consumers can learn how patients rated their care at Northfield Hospital
and at other Minnesota hospitals, thanks to federal survey data available
on a hospital quality website. The Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare
Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) patient-opinion survey provides one
source of information consumers can use in evaluating their health-care
options. The study’s
results are available on the Minnesota Hospital Quality Report (MHQR)
Web site at mnhospitalquality.org.
