Volunteer Opportunities
There are various ways to volunteer for Northfield Hospital & Clinics. The Long Term Care Center needs activities assistants or patient companions, and the Center for Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation needs assistance in Diagnostic Imaging. Volunteers are also needed in the gift shop, as clerical assistants, as knitters or for the Meals on Wheels program the hospital sponsors.
Northfield Hospital volunteers must be at least 16 years old and in good general health. Volunteers are required to attend an orientation session, have a Mantoux Test and commit to a minimum of 2 hours per week.
For more information, call Georgene Johnson, volunteer coordinator, at 507-646-1036 or e-mail her at johnsong@northfieldhospital.org.
Northfield Hospice Volunteer Program
Northfield Hospice also has a strong volunteer component. Volunteers are important team members who help with visiting hospice patients and families, help with errands when appropriate and help facilitate responses to need as they arise.
Hospice volunteers receive special education training to help them understand the issues important to patients and families dealing with terminal illness. If you are interested in this type of volunteer experience, contact Kerry Hjelmgren, hospice volunteer coordinator, at 507-646-1106. For more information, please click here.
