Hospice coordinator with volunteers Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteering

Volunteer opportunities at the Northfield Hospital exist in the skilled nursing facility as activities assistants or patient companions, in rehab services, as clerical assistants, baby cap knitters and as an assistant in the radiology department.

Northfield Hospital volunteers must be at least 16 years old and in good general health. Volunteers are asked to submit an application for service, attend an orientation session and commit to a minimum of 20 hours of service in a six-month period.

For more information, call Georgene Johnson, volunteer coordinator, at 507-646-1036 or e-mail her at johnsong@northfieldhospital.org.

Northfield Hospice also has a strong volunteer component. Men and women volunteers are important team members who help with visiting hospice patients and families, help with errands when appropriate and help facilitate responses to need as they arise.

Hospice volunteers receive special education training to help them understand the issues important to patients and families dealing with terminal illness. If you are interested in this type of volunteer experience, contact Susan Lohmann, hospice volunteer coordinator, at 507-646-1037.
