Sensory integration is the ability to correctly process information gathered from all of the senses. It is what helps us respond appropriately to the world around us.
For most, the brain seamlessly processes all of our sensory information — touch, movement, body awareness, sight, sound, smell, taste and gravitational pull. For some children, the brain is less efficient. This is when a parent may notice one or more of the developmental delays described here.
Our highly-trained staff at Children’s Therapy & Speech is able to evaluate children and develop therapeutic strategies that help them experience success in their interaction with their environment.
