Abnormal Pap Smears and Colposcopy

Prior to your scheduled colposcopy, please refrain from using tampons, douching, or sexual intercourse for 24 hours. Some women find that taking over-the-counter ibuprofen (400-600 mg) or acetaminophen (650-1000mg) one hour before the procedure lessens their discomfort.

After your colposcopy, please refrain from using tampons, douching, or intercourse for 72 hours.
