A 30-minute guided discussion will follow the film, led by Daniel Groll, Carleton College Professor of Philosophy, and Susan Lohmann, Northfield Hospital & Clinics Advance Care Planning Coordinator.
PBS’s FRONTLINE follows renowned New Yorker writer and Boston surgeon Atul Gawande, MD as he explores the relationships that doctors have with patients who are nearing the end of life. In conjunction with Dr. Gawande’s book Being Mortal, the film investigates the practice of caring for the dying and the challenges that doctors, patients, and families face in talking about chronic illness and death.
