OCTOBER 25, 2021 – The CDC expanded eligibility for COVID-19 booster shots to include people who got Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines – in addition to Pfizer vaccine.
NH+C is expanding its waitlist for booster shots to include Moderna and Johnson & Johnson for eligible individuals. Join the Vaccine Booster waitlist
CDC recommends that individuals who got Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine get a booster shot if they are:
- 65 years and older
- 18+ who live in long-term care settings
- 18+ who have underlying medical conditions
- 18+ who work or live in high-risk settings
CDC recommends a booster for Pfizer or Moderna 6 months or more after your second dose.
Individuals age 18+ who got Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine are recommended to get a booster shot 2 months or more after their initial vaccination.
Why another dose? Because each dose of vaccine prompts your body to practice how to fight the virus if it gets exposed to it.
CDC’s recommendations allow for mixing and matching vaccine for booster shots. Some people may prefer the vaccine type they originally received; others may prefer a different vaccine for their booster. NH+C will follow guidance from CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) as it develops. If you have a preference, talk with our staff when scheduling your appointment.

Joining NH+C’s waitlist doesn’t guarantee an appointment. We contact people on our waitlist via phone or text to schedule an appointment. You must hear from us before scheduling a booster shot appointment. There’s no need to call NH+C until you hear from us.
Appointments are limited, based on clinic capacity. We encourage you to seek other options for vaccination, too. You can get your booster shot someplace other than where you got your initial vaccination. Concerned about side effects? Monitoring for side effects is part of the vaccination process wherever you get your vaccination.
The state’s Vaccine Connector is searchable by location: vaccineconnector.mn.gov
Local options include pharmacies, Rice County Public Health, and Dakota County Public Health.
It’s important to get unvaccinated people protected against COVID-19. Vaccination is FREE. Vaccine is available for everyone 12 and older. Schedule your appointment for first and second dose: 507-646-8019
