(Part 2 of 2; EMT Initial Certification)
This unique, approximately 100 hour course, will prepare the current Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) to become an Emergency Medical Technician. Students who successfully complete this course will be eligible to sit for the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) practical and written exams. The curriculum is based on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration National EMS Education Standards for the Emergency Medical Technician (2009). The program follows an interactive course of study that includes lecture, practical skills, and field internship. This course is designed to be primarily scenario based with hands-on training in simulated emergency medical and traumatic calls. College credits are not offered, but participants are encouraged to check with their educational institution for possible credit allowances.
The EMT Completion Course is offered in the evenings twice yearly. Fall courses are held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, with occasional Saturdays from September – November. Spring classes are held on Monday and Wednesday evenings, with occasional Saturdays from February – May.
