Observers

All Observers must meet the following requirements:

  1. Submit immunization documentation including the following:
  • Measles, mumps and rubella (MMR): you must have two doses of MMR vaccine documented. If MMR records are not available, lab testing can be done to determine immunity (2 doses of MMR OR Positive lab titers showing immunity for mumps, measles and rubella)
  • Varicella (Chicken pox): documentation of two doses of varicella (chicken pox) vaccine, or a positive titer that confirms you had the disease, or provider documentation of chicken pox or shingles
  • Negative TST Test (TB skin test) or negative TB blood test: observers must have a negative two step TST test or negative blood assay M. tuberculosis (BAMT) test in their medical history with an annual negative TST or BAMT. Observers with a positive TST test must have a negative chest x-ray at least 12 months after conversion and negative symptom survey as below.

Long-Term Observers (more than 24 non-consecutive hours) must submit additional immunization documentation for:

  • Hepatitis B: Completed 3 shot series, or Positive antibody titer, OR 2 of the 3 shots completed with series in progress, OR an observer may document their decision to decline to be vaccinated against Hepatitis B.

The following immunizations are strongly recommended for all observers:

  • Updated TDap (tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis)
  • Annual seasonal influenza (flu shot)
