Patient Advocate – Here to Help You

Being hospitalized can be a stressful and confusing time for patients and their families. Making sense of all of the information you are given and the choices you are expected to make can be overwhelming. We want your experience to be calm and healing so that you can get back to the life you love. To help facilitate this, Northfield Hospital employs a Patient Advocate – a RN staff member who serve as liaison between patients, family members and hospital staff. Our Patient Advocate is here to assist you.

Patient Advocates listen to patients’ concerns, compliments and suggestions and speak out on their behalf when needed. They field questions about patient rights and care, hospital policies, practices and available services and they work to resolve patient concerns. 

Patient Advocates reinforce teaching done by your nurse and provider about your diagnosis, medications, treatments and transition from the hospital. We wish you well and we want to help you to continue your healing process following your care at Northfield Hospital + Clinics.

Northfield Hospital + Clinics offers a patient partnership program called Include Always. In partnership with Minnesota Hospital Association’s Include Always program, participants help shape how Northfield Hospital + Clinics provides care. Patients and families can participate in Include Always, which identifies topics of interest in building the partnership with Northfield Hospital + Clinics staff members.

When is a Patient Advocate available?

A Patient Advocate is in the hospital Monday through Thursday during business hours. (8:00am-4:30pm)

How do I contact a Patient Advocate?

If you have a question, concern, complaint or compliment you’d like to share with a Patient Advocate, you may:

  1. Ask a staff person to contact a Patient Advocate for you or ask for House Supervisor.

When you contact the Patient Advocate, please include the following information:

  1. Your full name and contact information.
  2. The name of the facility and department where you received treatment.
  3. The topic area you would like to discuss.
