I recognize how stressful it is being in the hospital or having someone you care for in the hospital. My goals when I make rounds is to explain what is going on with the patient, what they can expect, what therapies we will do and if discussing the case with a bigger hospital is necessary. I will make every effort to make my patients comfortable, laugh when possible, and feel they had input into their care and make them feel “in charge” of their care.
