Philosophy of Care
With over 20 years of experience as a Certified Nurse Midwife, I believe that listening to patient’s stories helps me walk alongside them to create a plan for their care that will best meet their needs. I first became interested in midwifery at the age of 3, when my science teacher mom taught me about conception, pregnancy, and birth as she prepared for a midwife-attended birth. I was fascinated by that process and I still am. I work to create a welcoming environment without judgement where patients feel respected and supported to make informed choices about their health. I have worked with people from all parts of the world and all walks of life and I enjoy learning about the world through them—their cultures, languages, and traditions. I love it when patients bring their questions and want to learn and grow through the transformative potential of health care in major life transitions, such as the childbearing year and perimenopause.
