
Steve Underdahl
President and Chief Executive Officer
Steve Underdahl, President and Chief Executive Officer, has overall responsibility for the operation and development of Northfield Hospital & Clinics.
Steve came to Northfield in June of 2013 from Mayo Clinic Health System, Albert Lea and Austin, where he held the position of Vice President of Operations. Prior to that, he served as hospital administrator for the Albert Lea hospital from 1999 to 2012. He has a master’s degree in Organizational Leadership from Bethel College. His background includes work in the area of strategic planning, new construction, marketing and chemical dependency treatment.

Jeff Meland, M.D.
Vice President and Chief Medical Officer
In his role as Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Meland serves as an executive resource to the hospital medical staff’s Medical Executive Committee and its subcommittees. He oversees the Quality Improvement and Clinical Informatics departments. In addition, Dr. Meland serves as Medical Director of the Emergency Department and continues to practice there.
Dr. Meland is a graduate of the University of North Dakota Medical School. He did his residency at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis. He practiced family medicine in Northfield for nine years before joining Northfield Hospital & Clinics in the Emergency Department. He is a past president of Northfield Hospital Clinics Medical Staff and formerly the Medical Director for Emergency Medical Services at the hospital.

Jerry Ehn
Vice President and Chief Operating Officer
Jerry Ehn, Chief Operating Officer, is responsible for the operational metrics, tools and processes for Northfield Hospital & Clinics.
Jerry came to Northfield after working for many years in the Mayo Clinic Health System, most recently as a Vice President of Operations. He holds a masters’ degree in Organization Leadership and a nursing home administrator’s license. He brings with him a balance of operational and strategic leadership experience.
Scott Edin
Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
Scott Edin, Chief Financial Officer, has overall responsibility for the financial well-being of Northfield Hospital & Clinics.
Scott came from Amery Regional Medical Center in Amery, WI where he was Vice President of Finance and General Services. He comes with thirty plus years of experience in healthcare. He has a master’s degree in Hospital Administration from the University of Minnesota. He comes with a background in financial analysis, budgeting and strategic planning.

Tammy Hayes
Chief Nurse Executive/Hospital & LTCC Administrator
Tammy is responsible for nursing services at Northfield Hospital, including the Medical/Surgical and Critical Care units, the Birth Center, Emergency Department, Cancer Care & Infusion Center, Surgery Department, Northfield Home Care & Hospice and the Long Term Care Center. She has served as the Long Term Care Center’s Licensed Administrator since 2010.
She has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the College of St. Scholastica and a Masters of Science in Health Services Administration from Cardinal Stritch University. Tammy has held a number of nursing leadership roles in neonatal and pediatric care and has provided leadership for a broad range of quality initiatives. Most recently, she worked as the clinical nurse manager of the neonatal intensive care unit at Saint Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri.
