Medication Disposal - Take It To The Box
Help prevent medication misuse/abuse and promote environmentally friendly medication disposal practices by taking your leftover medicine to a drop box. Over-the-counter medications and prescription drugs can pollute waters and be harmful to humans, fish, and other wildlife when disposed of improperly — do not flush medications down the toilet or place in the trash.
Northfield Hospital + Clinics does not accept medication for disposal. There are drop boxes available at police departments across the region.
These drop boxes are FREE and offer a place to safely and anonymously dispose of medications 24 hours a day/7 days a week.
What: Any over-the-counter, prescription medications and pet medications in any form (pill, liquid, cream, spray, powder).
When: 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.
How:
- Keep medicine in the original container.
- Remove or cross out your name and any personal information on the container.
- Place loose pills and liquids into a clear plastic bag, seal tightly and write the name of the medicine on the bag.
- Needles, sharps, syringes, lancets and thermometers are not accepted.
