It’s a boy!
Meet Howie Morrell, the first baby of 2026 born at Northfield Hospital.
Proud parents Kiley and Isaac Morrell welcomed their son on Thursday, January 1.
Big Brother Levi and big sister JoJo were very excited and gave new baby bother Howie a thumbs up.
“I was feeling crampy last night but didn’t think much of it. When it didn’t go away today, I thought we better get moving to the hospital,” says Kiley.
They arrived at the Birth Center around 9 in the morning, and baby Howie was born at 9:35 a.m. “It all moved pretty fast. He was born in half an hour. There really wasn’t time to do much. We didn’t know if he was a boy or a girl so he was a surprise which was fun,” explains Kiley.
The family just moved to Lonsdale in November and Kiley transferred her care to the Women’s Health Center seeing the midwives. “Midwife Janelle Dahl delivered Howie,” says Isaac.
“We know a handful of people who have delivered here, and they’ve all said amazing things,” says Kiley. “That was our experience too even though things moved fast. Everyone was confident and encouraging which was helpful.”
The Birth Center at Northfield Hospital welcomed over 700 babies in 2025.
