Knitters donate hats for newborns

January 2, 2017

Babies look so cute in hats!

Every baby born at Northfield Hospital gets a handmade hat to wear home. With over 500 babies a year . . . that’s a lot of knitting.

So NH&C partnered with Northfield Yarn to invite folks who knit (or crochet, or sew) to volunteer their talents and make baby hats at home. Northfield Yarn customers have made over 250 baby hats so far . . . in just six months. Wow!

Thank you, Cynthia Gilbertson and friends at Northfield Yarn, for helping to make the birth experience even better for our patients and their families. We look forward to many more hats to share with our newborns in 2017. Families love receiving this gift, and we are so happy to be able to share local talents with our patients.

Want to volunteer your knitting needles, too? Contact Anne Schumann at schumannan@northfieldhospital.org or 507-646-1036 to get started.

We provide the patterns; you provide the materials and skill.
