Cold & flu season typically runs October-February. Other viruses like COVID and RSV hit harder then, too.
The best way to protect yourself and your family is getting a flu shot and updated COVID vaccine.
Good habits can help keep you healthy, too:
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick. When you’re sick, keep your distance from others to protect them.
- Stay home when you’re sick. Stay home from work, school, and errands to prevent spreading your illness to others.
- Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Flu viruses spread mainly by droplets. Don’t spread yours.
- Clean your hands often with soap and water, or hand sanitizer.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, mouth to keep them free from germs.
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces, especially when someone is ill.
- Take care of your wellness: Get plenty of sleep, be physically active, manage your stress, drink plenty of fluids, eat nutritious food.
