What if I need to see my provider during the weeks when the clinic is closed?

There will be some transition time between Allina Health closing the clinic and moving out and its reopening as NH+C’s Jefferson Road Clinic.

  • Non-urgent: Contact Allina Health
  • Urgent: Go to Urgent Care Northfield or Lakeville; or Northfield Hospital Emergency Department
  • Same-day appointments: Call NH+C Northfield Clinic at 507-646-1494

What's happening with Urgent Care?

Urgent Care Northfield will move into Jefferson Road Clinic from its location on Highway 3, as of Thursday, Sept. 17.

It's the same great care and same hours, in a new location.

  • Mon - Fri: 8:30 am-7:30 pm
  • Sat - Sun: 8:30 am-3:30 pm

Urgent Care will be in a bigger space with a broader range of services, and convenient referrals for follow up care.

Because Jefferson Road Clinic is on the Northfield Hiawathaland bus route, this makes Urgent Care accessible via bus.

Urgent Care will be closed Sept. 15-16 for the move.

If you need urgent care those two days:

  • Northfield Clinic (on hospital main campus): Same-day appointments 7:30 am – 5 pm, 507-646-1494
  • Urgent Care Lakeville: 12 pm - 7:30 pm; text 509-253-1916 for wait times
  • Morning Urgent Care Farmington: 7 am - 12 pm
  • Emergency Department (Northfield Hospital): open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week

Prescriptions

What happens to my existing prescriptions?

  • If you have refills available on your prescription, call your pharmacy to refill it as usual.
  • If you have no refills, call your pharmacy. They will reach out to the prescribing provider’s care team to discuss refill. Your provider’s care team will determine whether it can be refilled, or if you need to be seen before continuing this medication.
  • If you need to be seen before your prescription can be refilled, you will be contacted by your provider’s care team to schedule any follow up you need.

We encourage you to work with your providers’ care team before August 28 to make sure your prescriptions are in order and you have enough medication during the clinic transition.

Appointments

What happens to my future appointments with Allina Health?

If you choose to stay with your provider as they become an NH+C provider, we will help you transfer appointments, or you can call and schedule appointments starting Aug. 5 for appointments starting Sept. 18. Keep any appointment you already have scheduled in the clinic.

When can I start making appointments?

For appointments before Aug. 28: Call Allina Health at 507-663-9000 or schedule via MyChart

For appointments after Sept. 18: Wait until Aug. 5 to schedule, then call NH+C at 507-646-6300

Starting Sept. 18, the Jefferson Road Clinic phone number returns to 507-663-9000

Where will I go for my appointment?

If you are currently seeing your provider at the Allina Health Clinic at 1400 Jefferson Road, you will continue to see your provider at the same location. The name will change to NH+C’s Jefferson Road Clinic; the clinic itself, its providers and staff, will remain the same.

Electronic Medical Records and Patient Portal

How will the shift in Electronic Medical Records affect me as a patient, and my provider?

NH+C will help patients, providers and staff transition from Allina Health’s Epic system to NH+C’s Meditech Expanse system. We're working hard to make this a positive experience: We know it's a change for all these individuals, so we're investing time and energy in training and preparation.

Patients will always be able to see their existing records in Epic; these files will remain, but will not be updated with new information after the clinic transition. Patients can continue to use tools like MyChart until the transition.

As providers join NH+C from Allina Health, they'll also maintain access to Allina Health's Epic system and continue to see those records as “read-only” files. Providers won’t have the option to add or make changes to these files.

With two parallel electronic medical records, the back and forth will get a bit more complicated. NH+C is committed to making it as seamless as possible. We've been working closely with the Allina Health providers and staff to make sure that this is a positive experience for them as well.

Security of patient data is paramount. NH+C adheres to the high standards of data security required for healthcare organizations and set by the federal government. Both NH+C and Allina Health are using healthcare-specific data security measures to protect patient privacy during this transition and data transfer.

Will I lose access to MyChart and to my Allina Health records?

No. You will be able to continue to access your Allina Health records.

Any new appointments and records after the transition to NH+C will be found in NH+C’s patient portal MyHealth Info. It is very similar to Allina Health’s MyChart system.

Your MyChart information does not transfer over to MyHealth Info. You’ll need to set up a MyHealth Info account.

You can set up a MyHealth Info account when your first appointment is scheduled through NH+C. We’ll invite you to do this when you schedule your first appointment with us.

Once your MyHealth Info account is set up, you can use it right away to message your primary care provider, and any NH+C provider you’re scheduled to see.

In the meantime, you can:

  • Message your current provider – call Jefferson Road Clinic during clinic hours and leave a message: 507-663-9000
  • Check results for test/labs done before Aug. 28 – go to MyChart
  • Check for future appointments – use the chatbot on northfieldhospital.org or call Jefferson Road Clinic during clinic hours: 507-663-9000

If you see other Allina Health providers, you can continue using Allina’s MyChart to communicate with them.

If you have questions about using MyChart after Sept. 18, contact Allina Health.

Health insurance

Will my insurance be covered?

BLUE CROSS AND BLUE SHIELD OF MINNESOTA: NH+C accepts Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota insurance. As of  Sept. 18, the Allina Health Northfield Clinic will transition to Northfield Hospital + Clinics and will accept all patients with this insurance.

We expect the Jefferson Road Clinic to be in-network for most Blue Cross and Blue Shield insurance plans when we take ownership of it in September.
If your insurance plan includes NH+C’s other clinics as in-network, you can expect Jefferson Road Clinic to be in-network too. Call your insurance carrier to confirm the details of your specific insurance plan.

Overall, we have looked at the insurance products that many people hold in the Northfield area. The vast majority of them are equal from Allina Health to NH+C. There are a few that we're reviewing in more detail to make sure that those patients who have a specific insurance product can continue to get great access with NH+C, and we'll continue to improve that as we go into the next year.

It's always a good idea for individuals to call their insurance company and clarify their own coverage directly with their insurance carrier.

It’s helpful to have your insurance information when you’re scheduling or checking in for an appointment. Our patient service staff can verify that we have your correct insurance information, and update it if needed.
